Rhett Butler is founder of mongabay.com, an environmental science news website with over two million unique monthly visitors that focuses on tropical forests and global ecosystems; founder of wildmadagascar.org, a web site that highlights the cultural and biological richness of Madagascar; and co-founder of Tropical Conservation Science, an academic journal that aims to provide opportunities for scientists in developing countries to publish their research in their native languages. In addition to mongabay.com, Rhett's writing has appeared in The Washington Monthly, Yale Environment 360, BBC News, the Jakarta Post, Conservation Letters, and Trends in Evolution & Ecology. Rhett’s intimate involvement in the global environmental arena, and particularly with carbon credits backed by REDD (Reduced Emissions in Deforestation & Degradation), allows LiveGive to offer our licensee partners premium forest carbon credits around the world. Rhett’s expertise and insight in this growing market is critical and allows LiveGive access to vetted, above board reforestation programs and new ones that are coming to the marketplace.
